Recoveries Officer

SHOFCO SACCO is seeking a skilled Recoveries Officer to join their Operations team in Nairobi. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial stability of an impactful grassroots organization serving urban slum communities in Kenya.

About SHOFCO:

Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) is an internationally recognized organization impacting over 2.4 million people across 17 urban slums in Kenya. They provide critical services including healthcare, clean water, education, and economic empowerment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Debt Recovery Management:

• – Monitor and collect delinquent cases
• – Maintain default rates at stipulated levels
• – Circulate default notices and reminders
• – Develop and implement debt recovery strategies

2. Account Management:

• – Draw up payment plans with debtors
• – Ensure adherence to payment agreements
• – Prepare monthly collection reports
• – List defaulters with Credit Reference Bureaus (CRB)

3. Risk Management:

• – Advise on best practices for managing risk exposures
• – Devise strategies to minimize credit risk

4. Customer Relations:

• – Address member inquiries about defaulted accounts
• – Maintain positive customer relations during recovery processes

5. Stakeholder Management:

• – Manage relations with external credit service providers
• – Assign defaulted accounts to debt collectors

Requirements:

• – Business-related degree from a recognized institution
• – CPA Part 2 (Sec. IV)
• – Professional qualification in credit management (advantageous)
• – Minimum 3 years’ experience in debt recovery in a financial institution
• – Familiarity with SACCO laws and regulations
