Job Description
Reporting directly to the Branch Manager and Regional Credit Office, the Relationship Manager – Credit will manage all aspects of credit operations at the branch level. This includes overseeing underwriting processes, assessing credit risk, evaluating loan applications, and ensuring strict compliance with internal and external credit regulations. The role acts as the chair of the Branch Credit Committee and serves as a key liaison with the regional credit function.

Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk & Underwriting Oversight
- Lead the credit underwriting process at the branch level and chair the Branch Credit Committee (BCC).
- Assess and evaluate loan applications to determine borrower creditworthiness and risk levels.
- Approve or escalate credit decisions based on delegated authority limits.
- Ensure all credit appraisals align with the Bank’s risk appetite, lending policies, and regulatory standards.
Credit Monitoring & Portfolio Quality
- Track and analyze branch credit performance using tools such as PAR (Portfolio at Risk) analysis and portfolio distribution reports.
- Ensure proper documentation, recordkeeping, and transaction verification of credit activities.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers – Business to proactively manage portfolio quality and minimize delinquencies.
- Oversee compliance with credit policies, regulatory requirements, and turnaround time (TAT) benchmarks.
Stakeholder Engagement & Service Delivery
- Act as the key credit liaison between the branch and the regional credit function.
- Provide timely support and resolution to client inquiries and credit-related issues.
- Deliver excellent internal and external customer service through responsive credit decisions.
Reporting & Training
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc credit performance reports for senior management.
- Support training and mentorship of branch teams on credit policies, procedures, and risk assessment models.
- Promote continuous improvement and credit culture awareness among frontline staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in banking or financial services, with at least 3 years in a credit administration role.
- Strong understanding of credit lifecycle management, underwriting principles, and risk-based decision making.
- Working knowledge of credit regulations, legal frameworks, and internal audit requirements.
- Familiarity with retail, MSME, or corporate lending environments.
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
- Professional certifications in credit management, banking, or risk (e.g., CCP, CRMA, CPA, or AKIB) are a distinct advantage.
- Experience with loan origination systems, credit scoring models, and portfolio tracking tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and make sound credit judgments.
