Amref Health Africa seeks a Senior Health Economist to enhance health financing functions and strengthen health systems in Africa. The ideal candidate will provide strategic and technical advice in health economics and financing.
Primary Responsibilities
Evidence Generation and Translation:
- – Conduct economic analyses and health technology assessments.
- – Translate evidence into high-quality learning products for stakeholders.
- – Perform econometric analyses and health economic evaluations.
- – Represent Amref in policy forums to disseminate health financing evidence.
Program Management:
- – Lead health systems financing and economics work.
- – Build partnerships for technical assistance on health economics and PHC financing.
- – Foster coherence across stakeholders to support systemic changes in health financing.
Business Development:
- – Identify and develop proposals for funding and business opportunities.
- – Partner with government and non-government entities in health-related fields.
Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Building:
- – Foster relationships with key health sector stakeholders.
- – Develop policy documents, guidelines, and toolkits.
- – Build capacity on health financing within Amref and among stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- – Master’s degree in public health, health economics, social policy, or public policy.
Experience and Skills:
- – Minimum ten years of experience in health financing and governance.
- – Proven leadership in strategy development and project implementation.
- – Strong skills in economic modeling, policy advocacy, and capacity building.
- – Collaborative leadership style and ability to manage teams.
- – Proficiency in Excel and VBA; experience with R is preferred.
- – Fluency in French is an advantage.
