Job Description

The Wealth Management Specialist will be responsible for driving high-level private wealth solutions while working alongside Universal Relationship Managers (RMs) within Equity Bank’s nationwide branch network. This hybrid role combines technical financial expertise with strong relationship management, and is ideal for professionals seeking private banking careers in Nairobi with direct access to High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs), Ultra High-Net-Worth Individuals (UHNWIs), family offices, and institutional clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supporting Universal RMs Across the Branch Network

• Collaborate with Universal RMs to uncover and develop wealth management opportunities within their portfolios.
• Provide advisory guidance and technical expertise during client meetings and presentations.
• Offer ongoing training and mentorship to RMs on private wealth strategies, global trends, and best practices.

2. Client Advisory and Relationship Management

• Act as the go-to expert for wealth management clients seeking tailored financial solutions.
• Advise clients on investment portfolios, estate planning, succession strategies, tax optimization, and philanthropy.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with HNWIs, UHNWIs, and institutional clients across the Equity Group footprint.

3. Business Development and Origination

• Independently generate new business by prospecting, networking, and leveraging existing relationships.
• Expand the wealth management portfolio within and beyond the Group’s current client base.
• Maintain a strong pipeline of qualified leads and revenue-generating opportunities.

4. Capacity Building and Training

• Develop structured training programs to enhance the capabilities of Universal RMs in wealth advisory.
• Align all training with EIB’s strategic priorities and commitment to client service excellence.

5. Product and Market Expertise

• Stay updated on financial markets, investment products, and evolving client preferences.
• Collaborate with product development teams to ensure offerings are innovative and customized for Sub-Saharan Africa clients.
• Provide market insights and analysis to clients and internal stakeholders.

6. Compliance and Execution

• Ensure all client interactions and transactions comply with regulatory standards and internal policies.
• Oversee execution of wealth management transactions, ensuring a seamless and professional experience for clients.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Master’s degree, MBA, or professional certifications such as CFA, CIFA, or CISI are highly preferred.
• Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in wealth management, private banking, or financial advisory roles.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with HNWIs and UHNWIs.
• Strong understanding of investment advisory, portfolio management, and financial planning services.

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Extensive international or regional experience in wealth management and private client advisory.
• Proven success in originating new business and increasing assets under management (AUM).
• Deep knowledge of global financial markets and investment strategies.
