The Policyholders Compensation Fund (PCF) is seeking a Young Professional – Internal Audit to join its Internal Audit Department at the Head Office in Nairobi. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Internal Audit, the role supports audit planning, control testing, reporting, risk-based audit activities, follow-up audits and quality management.

About the Role

The Young Professional – Internal Audit will contribute to the implementation of internal audit activities covering accounting, administrative and operational procedures. The position involves preparing audit documentation, conducting control tests, drafting reports, following up on recommendations and supporting risk management, quality assurance and departmental planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to reviewing and updating internal audit policies and procedures for departmental implementation.
• Prepare draft audit test procedures, audit notifications and requests for information.
• Develop audit checklists and conduct routine audit tests in line with approved audit programmes.
• Draft audit reports and participate in special audit assignments as required.
• Conduct follow-up audits to verify the implementation of agreed recommendations by process owners.
• Support the implementation of a quality management system within the Internal Audit Department.
• Perform tests of internal controls covering accounting, administrative and operational procedures to assess compliance.
• Prepare draft risk-based audit plans, programmes and schedules for execution.
• Evaluate the progress and effectiveness of actions taken to implement recommendations from internal and external audits.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly departmental reports.
• Implement corruption prevention and mitigation strategies within the department.
• Implement departmental annual work plans, budgets, procurement and asset disposal plans in alignment with the Fund’s performance targets and strategic objectives.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

Candidates should meet one of the qualification pathways specified in the vacancy.

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution, together with a Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Alternatively, candidates may possess the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPA (K)) qualification.
