Driver

The Policyholders Compensation Fund (PCF) is seeking a Driver to provide safe and efficient transport services in support of the Fund’s operations. The successful candidate will be deployed as a Pool Driver at the Head Office in Nairobi and will report to the Principal HR & Administration Officer.

Job Purpose

The Driver will safely and efficiently operate the Fund’s vehicles while ensuring their proper maintenance, security and accountability. The role also involves maintaining accurate vehicle records and performing related messengerial duties to support PCF operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the Fund’s vehicles as authorized and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of assigned vehicles.
• Submit regular reports concerning assigned motor vehicles.
• Ensure the safety of passengers and goods being transported.
• Maintain the security and safety of vehicles both on and off the road.
• Maintain work tickets for assigned vehicles to ensure journeys are authorized and properly accounted for.
• Monitor and report the expiry of motor vehicle insurance policies.
• Report mechanical problems and accidents involving assigned vehicles.
• Carry out routine checks on cooling, electrical and oil systems, tyre pressure and brakes.
• Inspect vehicles regularly and report any defects identified.
• Ensure Fund vehicles are used only for official and authorized business.
• Observe and comply with traffic rules and requirements under the Traffic Act.
• Report incidents and accidents to the police and/or the office immediately after they occur.
• Schedule regular vehicle servicing to ensure assigned vehicles remain in good working condition.
• Perform messengerial duties as assigned.

Academic Qualifications

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum mean grade of D+ or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Professional Qualifications and Experience

• At least three years of satisfactory driving experience after obtaining a driving licence.
• Successful completion of the suitability test for Drivers Grade III.
• A valid driving licence for Classes B1, B2, D1 and D2, applicable to the vehicles the candidate will be required to drive.
• The driving licence must have been valid and in active use for a minimum of three years.
• A refresher course for drivers lasting at least one week every three years from the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology or another recognized and accredited institution.
• A First Aid Certificate course lasting at least one week from St. John Ambulance or another recognized institution.
• A valid Certificate of Good Conduct.

The Driver will play an important role in supporting the Fund’s day-to-day operations by providing reliable transport services while maintaining vehicle safety, security and accountability. The position requires responsible driving, regular vehicle inspections, compliance with traffic regulations and prompt reporting of mechanical issues, accidents and other incidents.
