About the Role

The Driver will facilitate transportation for World Vision Kenya program staff and official visitors while ensuring the organization’s fleet remains safe, properly maintained, and economical to operate. The role also supports field activities, administrative services, reporting, community mobilization, and other official duties.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Facilitation and Transportation

  • Provide timely transportation for staff to and from work and other official duties.
  • Ensure the safety of staff and vehicles during journeys.
  • Facilitate transportation for staff, visitors, and donors to and from field locations.
  • Mobilize additional vehicles and drivers for major donor visits, campaigns, evaluations, and baseline activities.
  • Work with relevant staff to plan and coordinate field transportation services.

Vehicle Care and Maintenance

  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness at all times.
  • Keep the vehicle movement logbook accurate and up to date.
  • Check the mechanical and operational condition of the vehicle.
  • Ensure the vehicle is serviced at the required intervals.
  • Check that all vehicle tools are available and intact.
  • Undertake minor repairs and recommend major repairs when required.
  • Park vehicles in recommended World Vision Kenya parking areas.
  • Obtain required permission to use vehicles in accordance with established policies.
  • Obey traffic laws and maintain maximum care of the vehicle.
  • Report vehicle malfunctions to the fleet office and initiate procurement processes for repairs and maintenance.
  • Submit spare keys to Fleet Management for safe custody and surrender vehicle keys to respective supervisors at the end of each trip.

Reporting and Administration

  • Prepare monthly and other vehicle reports and file approved copies.
  • Forward invoices and fuel returns to Fleet Management for payment processing.
  • Submit detailed accident reports for insurance claim processing when required.
  • Facilitate delivery of parcels and mail.
  • Work with the Administration department and service providers to support quality services.
  • Support community mobilization activities.
  • Act as a bank agent for bank transactions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • KCSE Certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience with Class C1, C, CE, D3, or CD under the new driving classification.
  • Basic knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance.
  • Computer literacy certificate.
  • Reference letter from the applicant’s local chief.
  • Must be a local resident of Machakos County.

Additional Qualifications

  • First Aid and other safety certification is an added advantage.
  • Basic defensive driving certification is an added advantage.
  • Prior experience working in an NGO setup is an added advantage.
