Accounts Assistant I Job Description – Accounts Assistant Jobs in Kenya

The successful candidate will support accounting operations through accurate financial record management, reconciliation processes, and transaction monitoring. This position contributes to efficient financial administration and compliance with established government financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain petty cash records and ensure proper utilization of allocated funds.
  • Verify and examine payment vouchers in compliance with established regulations.
  • Assist with primary financial data entry and routine accounting transactions.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for financial and administrative records.
  • Safeguard invoices, receipts, cash books, and other accountable documents.
  • Process imprest warrants, expenditure claims, and imprest surrender documentation.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Support preparation of procurement plans and departmental budgets.
  • Post transactions and conduct daily balancing of cash books.
  • Assist in maintaining the organization’s fixed asset register.
  • Ensure adequate availability of office cash float.
  • Handle banking transactions and receipting activities accurately.

Required Qualifications – CPA Jobs in Kenya

  • Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) qualification or equivalent professional certification.
  • Membership in the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in good standing.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years relevant accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
  • Strong computer application skills and proficiency in accounting systems.
  • Experience using ERP accounting software in a professional environment.
  • Candidates interested in accounting careers in Kenya should demonstrate strong analytical and organizational abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within public sector financial management environments.
