Job Description
The Human Resource Management Internship at Amref Health Africa provides recent graduates with an exceptional opportunity to immerse themselves in the complete spectrum of HR functions within a globally recognized NGO. Working alongside experienced HR professionals, the intern will support core HR operations, gain exposure to innovative talent management practices, and participate in data-driven HR analytics projects.
This position is designed for individuals eager to launch their careers in human resources and who are passionate about the role of HR in shaping organizational culture and performance. The internship will involve practical involvement in recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, performance management, and HR analytics — equipping interns with both technical and strategic HR insights.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Selection
- Support the full recruitment process, including job description drafting, job posting, candidate shortlisting, and interview coordination.
- Assist in managing candidate communication and ensuring an excellent candidate experience.
- Contribute to recruitment metrics analysis and process improvement initiatives.
Onboarding and Orientation
- Assist in preparing employment contracts and onboarding documentation.
- Update HRIS records and ensure compliance with HR policies and data integrity.
- Support HR audits and maintain accurate employee records.
Employee Experience and Culture
- Assist in organizing employee engagement and wellness activities.
- Contribute to communication campaigns that enhance Amref’s culture and employee well-being.
- Support initiatives that strengthen inclusivity, collaboration, and workplace morale.
Talent Management and Learning
- Support the coordination of performance management cycles and talent reviews.
- Assist in gathering data for learning needs assessments and training program tracking.
- Help develop performance dashboards and executive summaries for HR leadership.
HR Analytics and Reporting
- Collect, clean, and analyze HR data on recruitment, attrition, performance, and diversity metrics.
- Develop visual dashboards using tools such as Excel or Power BI for HR decision-making.
- Support continuous improvement of HR metrics and reporting frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field (graduated within the last two years).
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in strategic human resource management.
- Prior internship or work experience in HR is an added advantage.
- Additional certification in HR analytics, Power BI, Excel for HR, or data storytelling is highly desirable.
