Jambojet Front End Developer

Jambojet, Kenya’s leading low-cost airline, is seeking a talented and motivated Front End Developer to join our innovative Information Technology, Security, and Systems department in Nairobi. About the Role:

Reporting to the Information Systems Development Manager, the Front-End Developer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining user-facing features for Jambojet’s web applications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on projects that directly impact our customers’ journey, from booking flights to managing their travel experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and enhance user-facing features for Jambojet’s website and mobile applications, ensuring they are intuitive and user-friendly

2. Write clean, maintainable, and well-structured code that adheres to industry best practices

3. Optimize application performance to ensure fast loading times and smooth interactions, critical for our customers booking flights and accessing travel information

4. Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsiveness across various devices, allowing our customers to access Jambojet’s services seamlessly

5. Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate Jambojet’s brand identity into interactive web pages

6. Work closely with back-end developers to integrate front-end components with server-side logic, ensuring a cohesive booking and customer management system

7. Implement robust security controls to protect customer data and transactions across all channels

8. Consume APIs to display real-time flight information, process bookings, and manage customer data

9. Identify and resolve development issues to maintain a smooth user experience for our passengers

10. Utilize CSS pre-processors like Sass or Less to create maintainable and brand-consistent stylesheets

11. Create accessible and interactive interfaces to enhance the overall user experience for all our customers, including those with disabilities

12. Research and implement innovative solutions to optimize the online booking process and customer account management

13. Adopt Agile practices to align with Jambojet’s fast-paced, customer-centric approach

14. Use version control systems like Git and participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality

15. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, APIs, and features related to Jambojet’s digital platforms

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field

2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in front-end web development, preferably in the travel or e-commerce sector

3. Proficiency in CSS, HTML, and JavaScript

4. Experience with client-side scripting frameworks such as Angular, Vue.js, and jQuery

5. Knowledge of CSS pre-processors like LESS and SASS

6. Strong understanding of responsive design, SEO principles, and RESTful APIs

7. Expertise in front-end frameworks and libraries such as React, Angular, and Vue.js

8. Familiarity with code versioning tools like Git and Jenkins

9. Experience with browser developer tools like Chrome DevTools

10. Knowledge of design principles and experience with design tools like Adobe XD, Sketch, or Figma

11. Strong time management and project coordination skills

12. Ability to work within Agile methodologies

13. Excellent communication and collaboration skills

14. Relevant certifications in front-end development or related technologies (preferred)

15. Passion for the aviation industry and understanding of the unique challenges in airline digital platforms (a plus)
