About HealthRight Kenya
HealthRight Kenya (HRK) is a leading health and human rights NGO operating in Kenya since 2005. With a mission to improve healthcare access and equity, we implement impactful programs in HIV/AIDS, mental health, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), reproductive, maternal, child, and adolescent health (RMCAH), and high-burden diseases such as TB and malaria. We work across 10 counties including Nairobi, Bungoma, Kilifi, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, Narok, and West Pokot.
Position Summary
This MEL Intern position supports project monitoring, data collection, reporting, and knowledge-sharing activities. Key Responsibilities
1. Project Data Collection & Information Management
- Assist with field-level data collection and verification as guided by the MEL plan.
- Update and maintain project databases and ensure accurate data entry.
- Organize digital and physical records following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
2. Quality Assurance & Reporting
- Support the review of partner reports and field submissions for completeness and accuracy.
- Help prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual MEL reports with visuals and narratives.
- Assist in monitoring key indicators and flagging inconsistencies for follow-up.
3. Learning, Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Document success stories, best practices, and lessons learned from field activities.
- Assist with knowledge-sharing across project teams and during review meetings.
4. Evaluations & Special Studies
- Support baseline surveys, endline evaluations, and spot checks.
- Contribute to the design and piloting of data collection tools.
5. Administrative & Team Support
- Support M&E team with logistics, scheduling, meeting documentation, and event coordination.
- Help with internal learning events and data presentations.
Learning & Development Opportunities
- Training on standard M&E tools, indicators, and frameworks.
- Mentorship in data analysis, knowledge management, and reporting systems.
- Experience with digital tools and platforms used in NGO data systems.
- Exposure to community-based health programs in Kenya.
Who We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Undergraduate or recent graduate in Public Health, Social Sciences, Statistics, Project Management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in health programs or NGO internships in Kenya.
Key Skills
- Basic understanding of qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator.
- Team player with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
Performance Indicators
- Timeliness and quality of reports and data collected.
- Effective communication and coordination within the MEL team.
- Documented contributions to learning, success stories, and team support.
