Senior Manager, Social Statistics Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Population and Social Statistics, the Senior Manager, Social Statistics will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring activities within the Social Statistics Division. The role provides strategic leadership across education, health, gender, governance, peace, and security statistics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement survey programmes in Education, Health, Gender, Governance, Peace, and Security Statistics.
  • Coordinate the design, development, and review of administrative data collection instruments.
  • Oversee the collection, compilation, and analysis of social statistics across mandated sectors.
  • Coordinate development of concept papers and proposals for technical advancement of social statistics.
  • Provide indicators for monitoring social sector performance at national and county levels.
  • Coordinate preparation of social statistics for the Economic Survey, Statistical Abstracts, and reports.
  • Establish and maintain systems for measuring and evaluating data quality.
  • Monitor statistical trends at national, regional, and international levels.
  • Develop, maintain, and update social statistics databases.
  • Produce and submit technical reports and statistical submissions to regional and international agencies.
  • Ensure adherence to statistical standards, methods, and best practices.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop staff within the Social Statistics Division.
  • Perform any other lawful duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ service at the grade of Manager, Statistics or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting at least six (6) weeks.
  • Proficiency in ICT skills.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and human resource management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
