Job Description
The Supply Chain Graduate Intern will support the efficient functioning of the organization’s supply chain operations through learning and contributing to procurement, logistics, and supplier management activities. Working under the supervision of the Regional Supply Chain Specialist, the intern will gain valuable exposure to real-world supply chain challenges, digital procurement systems, and global best practices.
This role provides a hands-on learning experience designed to build technical skills, operational knowledge, and professional confidence in supply chain management. It is ideal for recent graduates seeking to develop expertise in procurement systems, compliance, and supplier engagement within the international development sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn Supply Chain Best Practices: Gain exposure to international supply chain methodologies, including inventory control, demand forecasting, and supplier management.
- Utilization of the ProVision System: Learn to navigate and use World Vision’s ProVision procurement system for requisition processing, supplier tracking, and contract management.
- Operational Support: Assist the Regional Supply Chain Specialist in coordinating procurement and logistics tasks to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of goods and services.
- Purchase Order Management: Issue purchase orders and monitor supplier performance to guarantee timely fulfillment.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to identifying process enhancements and maintaining an accurate, up-to-date item catalogue within the ProVision platform.
- Data Management and Reporting: Support data analysis, report preparation, and document management to maintain transparency and accountability across procurement processes.
- Supplier Performance Monitoring: Assist in evaluating supplier performance based on feedback and adherence to procurement standards.
- Collaboration and Communication: Engage with cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and solutions-oriented work culture.
- Timely Feedback: Ensure regular communication with internal requesters, providing procurement updates within 48 hours as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Active or recent membership with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) or the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
- Strong computer literacy, particularly in MS Office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with procurement systems such as ProVision or other ERP-based tools.
- Experience in volunteer, internship, or academic projects related to procurement or logistics.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and compliance with procurement policies.
- Proven ability to work in diverse, multicultural environments with cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
- Fast learner with a proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative.
