Position Overview
These internship positions, based in Nairobi, Nyeri, and Mombasa offices, offer an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in insurance underwriting. The interns will work directly with the Assistant Manager-Underwriting, supporting the underwriting team in processing new business applications and contributing to policy issuance.
Key Responsibilities
- – Support underwriting operations through accurate data entry and processing of new business applications
- – Assist in preliminary risk assessments under senior staff guidance
- – Verify application completeness and compliance with underwriting guidelines
- – Maintain organized documentation and ensure secure handling of client information
- – Serve as a liaison between agents and the underwriting team
- – Generate and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly branch-level underwriting reports
- – Ensure compliance with KYC, anti-money laundering, and insurance regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
- – Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
- – Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- – Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking abilities
- – Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- – Effective time management and organizational abilities
- – Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- – Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach
Preferred Skills
- – Basic knowledge of insurance principles and underwriting processes
- – Understanding of risk assessment fundamentals
- – Experience with insurance software systems
