Security Officer

Farmer’s Choice Limited is seeking a proactive Security Officer to protect employees, visitors, products, raw materials, assets and information through access control, patrols, surveillance, loss prevention and emergency response procedures. Reporting to the Security Supervisor, the role requires vigilance, integrity and accurate reporting of security incidents.

About the Role

The Security Officer will support day-to-day security operations by controlling access, conducting patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, preventing losses and responding to emergencies. The position also involves verifying goods and vehicle movements, maintaining security records and promptly escalating suspicious activity or incidents.

Key Responsibilities

Access Control and Verification

• Control the entry and exit of employees, visitors, contractors and vehicles in accordance with approved procedures.
• Verify identification documents, visitor authorisations, gate passes, delivery documents and vehicle movement records.
• Conduct lawful and respectful searches of persons, bags, vehicles and instruments in line with company policy.
• Issue and reconcile visitor badges, keys, radios and other controlled security items.

Patrols and Surveillance

• Conduct scheduled and random patrols of the perimeter, production areas, warehouse, dispatch areas, offices and other vulnerable points.
• Monitor CCTV, alarms and other assigned security systems.
• Report security irregularities immediately through the appropriate channels.
• Detect and report theft, suspicious activity, tampering, unsafe acts and food-defence or biosecurity breaches.

Security Records and Loss Prevention

• Maintain accurate occurrence books, patrol logs, key registers, visitor registers and vehicle registers.
• Prepare accurate incident reports and escalate security matters promptly.
• Verify inbound and outbound goods, seals, dispatch notes and gate passes.
• Identify and escalate discrepancies involving goods, documentation, seals or vehicle movements.

Emergency Response

• Respond to security alarms, fire, medical and other emergency incidents.
• Support established emergency response procedures and evacuations.
• Escalate incidents appropriately and provide relevant information to supervisors and response teams.

Key Competencies

• Basic computer literacy and ability to prepare clear written reports.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• KCSE certificate or equivalent.
• Valid registration, training and compliance required under applicable private-security law and regulation.
• At least 2 years’ relevant security experience.
• Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, agriculture or a high-volume distribution environment is preferred.
• A valid driving licence is an added advantage.
