Senior Electrical Engineer – Role Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the formulation, implementation, monitoring, and review of engineering procedures and standards for NHC’s residential and commercial projects. This position ensures that all electrical engineering design and implementation activities comply with statutory requirements, quality standards, and project specifications. Key Responsibilities

• Initiate the formulation, implementation, monitoring, and review of procedures and standards for electrical engineering design and project implementation.
• Participate in feasibility studies and planning for housing and infrastructure projects to ensure alignment with technical and safety standards.
• Prepare engineering designs, specifications, and detailed drawings for NHC projects.
• Seek and obtain County and statutory approvals for engineering designs and project drawings.
• Prepare tender and contract documentation for electrical and engineering aspects of projects.
• Liaise with architects in preparation of layout plans, ensuring technical compatibility of electrical infrastructure.
• Participate in evaluation of contractual claims related to engineering deliverables.
• Engage with relevant agencies and authorities for inspections, approvals, and compliance of electrical works.
• Undertake monitoring and evaluation of ongoing housing and infrastructure projects to ensure quality, safety, and specification compliance.
• Supervise construction of housing and infrastructure projects, focusing on electrical engineering standards and project deliverables.
• Undertake stakeholder engagement for infrastructure projects, including liaison with utility and service providers.
• Carry out appraisal and certification of completed engineering works and issue necessary certificates in compliance with regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum cumulative work experience of six (6) years in relevant engineering roles, including at least three (3) years as Engineer I or a comparable position.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Graduate membership of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (I.E.K) or other recognized professional body in good standing.
• Registered by the Engineers Board of Kenya (E.B.K) as a Graduate Engineer.
• Proficiency in computer applications for engineering design, project management, and reporting.
• Proven merit and performance reflected through successful project delivery.
