Senior Instructor Job Description

The Senior Instructor is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating agricultural training programmes while mentoring trainees and ensuring effective learning outcomes. Candidates interested in the Senior Instructor vacancy in Kenya will oversee classroom instruction, practical demonstrations, trainee assessments, and supervision of industrial attachments in accordance with approved training standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, and instructional materials.
  • Deliver classroom instruction, demonstrations, and practical training in the assigned area of specialization.
  • Evaluate trainees through continuous assessments, examinations, and practical exercises.
  • Compile demonstration reports and maintain accurate trainee progress records.
  • Ensure proper utilization, maintenance, and safe custody of training equipment and demonstration materials.
  • Requisition training materials and equipment required for effective learning.
  • Supervise students during industrial attachments, internships, and educational visits.
  • Organize extracurricular activities while providing guidance and counseling to trainees.

Required Qualifications for Agricultural Instructor Jobs in Kenya

  • Minimum cumulative service period of nine (9) years with relevant work experience, including at least three (3) years served as an Instructor I or in a comparable position.
  • Diploma in Agriculture, Agricultural Education and Extension, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science, Farm Management, Food Science and Technology, Agro-processing, Agricultural Extension, Irrigation Engineering, Sustainable Agriculture, Biotechnology, or another related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Training of Trainers Course lasting at least two (2) weeks or a Certificate in Instructor Training lasting at least three (3) months.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body where applicable.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural instructor jobs in Kenya, curriculum delivery, learner assessment, and practical agricultural training.
  • Demonstrated merit, integrity, and outstanding work performance.
