About the Role

The Collection & Recovery Officer will manage a portfolio of delinquent loan accounts and take appropriate recovery actions to improve repayment outcomes. The position involves direct engagement with customers through calls, follow-ups and field visits, as well as coordination with relevant external parties on recovery matters.

The successful candidate should be able to negotiate repayment plans, trace unreachable customers and work effectively with auctioneers and legal teams where collateral recovery or repossession is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of delinquent loan accounts and drive timely recovery.
• Conduct customer calls and follow-ups to support loan repayment.
• Carry out field visits to negotiate repayment plans with defaulting clients.
• Conduct skip tracing to locate customers who have become unreachable.
• Negotiate appropriate repayment arrangements with delinquent customers.
• Liaise with auctioneers and legal teams on repossession and recovery of collateral where required.

Required Qualifications

• A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in collections or recovery, preferably within microfinance or banking.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in collections software or CRM systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
