Data Protection Officer

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is hiring a Data Protection Officer for their innovative Virtual Reception & Placement (VR&P) program. This remote position will play a crucial role in developing and enforcing data protection policies for IRC’s cutting-edge resettlement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Collaboration and Compliance (30%)

•    – Work with Signpost technology team to integrate data protection into product development
•    – Provide technical guidance on compliance with data protection regulations
•    – Conduct regular audits of data security practices across platforms

2. Data Protection and Policy Development (30%)

•    – Create comprehensive data protection policies for VR&P program
•    – Negotiate data sharing agreements with partner organizations
•    – Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments

3. Data Protection Compliance (20%)

•    – Collaborate on vendor risk management and contract reviews
•    – Manage personal data breach incidents

4. Stakeholder Engagement and Training (10%)

•    – Train staff on data protection principles and implementation
•    – Audit caseworker processes for client data security

5. Strategic Planning and Implementation (10%)

•    – Contribute to Signpost’s technology roadmap
•    – Support product management in prioritizing data protection features

Requirements:

• – 3-7 years experience in data protection or cybersecurity
• – Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
• – Advanced knowledge of CRM systems like Zendesk
• – Proficiency in Python and cloud environment security
• – Strong collaboration and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• – Master’s degree in relevant field
• – Data protection certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPT)
• – SQL proficiency
• – Experience with multilingual data sets
