Environmental Safety & Health Intern Job Description
The Environmental Safety & Health Intern role supports the EHS Officer in implementing safety, health, and environmental programs across Java House branches. This position plays a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, accurate documentation, and proactive risk management. The intern will work closely with the EHS Officer, branch teams, and external auditors to support inspections, audits, training, and reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the EHS Officer in recording all accidents and incidents in the incident register.
- Support investigation of incidents and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist in ensuring all licenses and certificates required under EMCA 1999 and OSHA 2007 are obtained and renewed on time.
- Provide logistical support for internal and external EHS audits and inspections, including OSH, fire safety, noise surveys, and environmental audits.
- Offer administrative support for Safety and Health Committee meetings, including scheduling, minute-taking, and tracking action closure.
- Assist with EHS induction programs for new staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Support ongoing EHS training programs and awareness initiatives.
- Help ensure updated EHS policies, procedures, and training records are available at branches and Foodscape locations.
- Monitor proper use of PPE across branches and confirm safety signage is correctly displayed.
- Support proper solid waste disposal by enforcing waste segregation practices.
- Perform routine branch inspections of first aid boxes, fire extinguishers, and EHS documentation under supervision.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the EHS Officer.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of relevant academic or practical exposure in environmental health and safety.
- Basic understanding of occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to work in a structured, compliance-driven environment.
