About Bandari Maritime Academy

Bandari Maritime Academy was established through Legal Notice No. 233 of 28th November 2018, with the mandate to develop academic and vocational skills and provide competent maritime human resources for a sustainable Blue Economy.

About the Role

The ICT Officer I will support the Academy’s day-to-day technology operations by maintaining computer hardware, software systems and ICT infrastructure. The position will also contribute to systems development, user training, information security, network security, ICT procurement specifications and implementation of strategic technology plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, operate and maintain computer hardware, software systems and related ICT infrastructure at the Academy.
• Write and test computer programmes according to instructions and specifications.
• Provide user support and train users on ICT systems.
• Implement computer systems.
• Perform technical, systems and user documentation tasks.
• Investigate and analyze the feasibility of system requirements at the Academy.
• Develop system specifications.
• Undertake the day-to-day management of information technology platforms.
• Provide specifications for the procurement of ICT equipment.
• Ensure effective and efficient use of ICT resources.
• Ensure the security of information and networks.
• Implement strategic ICT plans.

Required Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience at the grade of Information Communication Officer II or in a comparable position.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Business Information Technology, Information Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Professional certification in Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Benefits and Compensation

The position offers a basic salary of Kshs. 56,000 – Kshs. 99,500 per month, a house allowance of Kshs. 15,000, commuter allowance of Kshs. 14,000 and annual leave allowance of Kshs. 6,000. The position is offered on Permanent and Pensionable terms.
