Job Description

The KRA Pupillage Programme is a 12-month structured apprenticeship designed to equip candidates with practical legal experience in line with Kenya School of Law requirements. Pupils will work under the supervision of qualified advocates and gain exposure to a wide range of legal tasks within public sector operations. The programme provides hands-on engagement with legal processes, drafting, advisory work, litigation preparation, regulatory compliance, and public finance law.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking legal professional training, government legal career pathways, public sector legal experience, or tax law specialization opportunities. Pupils will work collaboratively with experienced legal teams, participate in case reviews, support legal research, prepare legal documents, and assist in day-to-day departmental operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting legal officers in drafting legal documents, briefs, pleadings, and advisory notes.
  • Conducting legal research across areas including tax law, commercial law, regulatory enforcement, and public finance.
  • Assisting in preparation for litigation and tribunal matters.
  • Participating in compliance reviews and supporting enforcement activities.
  • Maintaining organized case files, legal records, and documentation.
  • Participating in departmental meetings, training sessions, and collaborative assignments.
  • Supporting legal teams in policy interpretation, regulatory assessments, and legal audits.
  • Performing additional legal support duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications

  • Holder of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
  • Currently enrolled in the Advocates Training Programme (ATP) at the Kenya School of Law between January 2024 and December 2025.
  • Availability for full-time engagement over the 12-month pupillage period.
  • Ability to provide an official introduction letter from the Kenya School of Law upon selection.

  • Strong interest in tax law, public law, commercial law, or regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ethical conduct.

Benefits and Compensation
