Manager, Financial Accounting & Reporting Job Description – Finance jobs in Nairobi
The Manager, Financial Accounting & Reporting will lead and oversee financial accounting and reporting activities, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial information. The position will also deliver timely consolidated and external reports while providing financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
The successful candidate will strengthen financial controls, reporting processes, governance standards, and risk management frameworks. The role also provides leadership in financial planning, audit management, digital transformation, and continuous improvement, making it suitable for professionals pursuing accounting careers in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee preparation, consolidation, and timely submission of statutory, regulatory, and management reports.
- Ensure financial information is accurate, reliable, complete, and suitable for internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead interpretation and implementation of IFRS standards, statutory requirements, and emerging reporting developments.
- Establish effective financial controls and risk management frameworks that safeguard organizational assets.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
- Oversee internal and external audit processes and monitor implementation of audit recommendations.
- Provide financial analysis, performance insights, and decision-support information to Executive Management and the Board.
- Oversee financial planning, budget monitoring, performance reporting, and variance analysis.
- Provide oversight of financial systems and reporting platforms to maintain data integrity and operational effectiveness.
- Drive automation, digitization, and innovation initiatives that improve financial reporting and business performance.
Required Qualifications – Financial Accounting careers in Kenya
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounts), Finance, Economics, Business Administration/Management (Accounts), or an equivalent qualification.
- Master’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 12 years of relevant work experience, including five years in a management role.
- CPA (K), ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting certification.
- Registration with ICPAK or an equivalent professional body in good standing.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, Government Accounting Standards, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with ERP financial modules and financial reporting automation.
- Leadership course lasting at least four weeks from a recognized institution.
