Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) is recruiting a Trainer I MTOT to support the design and delivery of training programmes in maritime transport and logistics and related areas. The position also involves developing instructional materials, supporting examinations and practical training, and assisting with curriculum and training policy development.

About Bandari Maritime Academy

Bandari Maritime Academy was established through Legal Notice No. 233 of 28th November 2018. The Academy has a mandate to develop academic and vocational skills and provide competent maritime human resources for a sustainable Blue Economy.

About the Role

The Trainer I MTOT will support training and capacity-building programmes in maritime transport and logistics and related areas. The role includes assisting with instructional materials, syllabus implementation, examinations, practical trainee sessions, curriculum development and workshop records.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing and delivering training and capacity-building programmes in maritime transport and logistics and related areas.
• Assist in developing instructional materials for training.
• Assist in implementing training programmes according to the set syllabus.
• Support the setting, administration and marking of examinations.
• Support trainees during practical sessions involving trade projects and business plan development.
• Assist in developing institutional training policies.
• Assist in developing and reviewing curricula and syllabi.
• Assist in maintaining workshop records.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields from a recognized university:
  • Maritime Transport and Logistics
  • International Freight Management
  • Maritime Law and Policy
  • Shipping Management and Logistics
  • Port Management
  • Clearing and Forwarding
  • Maritime Management
  • Business Management
• Proficiency in computer applications.

Preferred Experience

Relevant working experience would be an added advantage.

Benefits and Compensation

The Trainer I MTOT position is offered on permanent and pensionable terms. The basic salary scale is Kshs. 42,500 to Kshs. 80,000 per month, with a house allowance of Kshs. 10,000, commuter allowance of Kshs. 12,000 and annual leave allowance of Kshs. 4,000.
