Job Description
The Trainer, Nautical Science, is responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality maritime training and academic instruction. This role contributes directly to BMA’s objective of offering reliable and future-focused training programs that strengthen Kenya’s talent pipeline. The trainer will assist in course design, curriculum development, classroom instruction, practical training, and the assessment of learners. Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in designing, developing, and delivering maritime training and capacity building programs aligned with industry standards.
- Supporting the development of instructional and teaching materials used across nautical and engineering programs.
- Implementing training sessions strictly according to the approved curriculum and syllabus.
- Monitoring, recording, and reporting classroom and workshop attendance for trainees.
- Setting, administering, moderating, and marking examinations and assessments.
- Supporting trainees during practical sessions, trade skills activities, project work, and business plan development.
- Contributing to curriculum and syllabus review activities to strengthen training effectiveness.
- Assisting with workshop documentation, record analysis, and training process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience at the level of Assistant Trainer III or equivalent.
- A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or a related engineering discipline.
- Proficiency in computer applications relevant to academic delivery and training documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering maritime or technical training within a recognized institution.
- Familiarity with curriculum development, competency-based training, and modern instructional methodologies.
- Experience handling practical sessions, workshop supervision, and project-based training.
- An understanding of current maritime regulations, safety standards, and professional expectations.
