About the Role

The Computer Management Assistant serves as a senior technical resource within a 17-person Information Systems Center. The position supports information technology operations and provides advanced technical assistance across network services, systems administration, customer support and technology projects.

The role combines technical operations with consulting and systems engineering responsibilities. It involves maintaining network availability, resolving complex user issues, administering Microsoft technologies, supporting mobile devices and contributing to technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage network and systems administration activities, including network uptime, VPN services and technical troubleshooting.
  • Provide second- and third-tier help desk support covering hardware, SharePoint, OneDrive and Office 365.
  • Administer SharePoint and support workflows using Power Automate.
  • Consult on information technology requirements and manage technical projects.
  • Support smartphones, tablets, VR/AR headsets, IoT devices and other mobile computing technologies.
  • Design and support audiovisual systems, digital signage and conference technology.
  • Administer and deploy Windows operating systems and support Microsoft Office applications.
  • Apply cybersecurity practices and project management skills in information systems activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Information Systems Center.

Required Qualifications

  • A university degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • At least 7 years of technical experience covering LAN/WAN operations, management, administration and customer support.
  • Experience with SharePoint administration and Power Automate.
  • English Level 4 proficiency, including fluent speaking, reading and writing and translation ability.
  • Kiswahili Level 3 proficiency, representing good working knowledge.
  • Experience administering and deploying Windows operating systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices.
  • Project management skills.

Role Breakdown

  • 25% – System Administration: Network uptime, VPN services and technical troubleshooting.
  • 25% – User Support: Second- and third-tier assistance for hardware, SharePoint, OneDrive and Office 365.
  • 20% – IT Consulting and Project Management: Technical consultation and management of IT projects.
  • 15% – Mobile Computing Support: Support for smartphones, tablets, VR/AR headsets and IoT devices.
  • 10% – Systems Engineering and Design: Audiovisual systems, digital signage and conference technology.
  • 5% – Other Duties: Additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • Annual salary: KES 3,068,155.

Working Conditions

The Computer Management Assistant position does not offer telework and does not require travel. The work may occasionally involve lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds, climbing ladders and working around electrical systems.
