Background and Context

The Dadaab Refugee Complex, established in 1991, is a critical humanitarian zone hosting over 408,985 individuals, predominantly Somali refugees. The operation faces unique challenges, including:

  • – Protracted refugee situation

  • – Complex security environment
  • – Limited infrastructure and resources

Key Responsibilities

The Generator Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for:

  • – Maintaining electrical generators across UNHCR and partner facilities
  • – Conducting comprehensive electrical power needs assessments
  • – Installing, repairing, and testing electrical equipment
  • – Ensuring uninterrupted power supply in challenging conditions
  • – Developing maintenance schedules and documentation
  • – Responding to emergency electrical system repairs
  • – Maintaining inventory of generators and critical electrical components

Required Qualifications

Education

  • – Secondary Education (Required)
  • – Technical Diploma in Mechanical and Electrical Systems (Preferred)

Experience

  • – 1-year relevant experience with High School Diploma
  • – Proven experience in electrical installation and maintenance

Certificates

  • – Electrical Studies
  • – Electronics/Electro-Mechanics Certification
