Family Bank is seeking a Head of MSME to provide strategic leadership for the growth and development of its Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Banking business. The role will drive sustainable asset and liability growth, customer acquisition and retention, portfolio quality, innovative financial solutions, and customer-centric MSME banking strategies.

About the Role

The Head of MSME will lead the development and execution of the Bank’s MSME strategy, with responsibility for market segmentation, proposition development, relationship management, distribution capabilities, and risk-adjusted returns. The role will also champion strategic partnerships, digital solutions, and ecosystem-based approaches that support MSME financial inclusion and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the SME Banking strategy in alignment with the Bank’s overall strategic plan.
  • Identify priority sectors, value chains, and growth corridors to support portfolio expansion.
  • Lead the transformation of SME and franchise banking into scalable, digitally enabled business lines.
  • Drive innovation in business banking products, including structured trade, working capital, supply chain, and sector-specific solutions.

Business Growth and Financial Performance

  • Drive sustainable growth in the SME loan book, deposits, CASA, and non-funded income.
  • Optimize portfolio mix to improve yield, risk diversification, and capital efficiency.
  • Increase wallet share among existing customers through cross-selling of Bank products.
  • Deliver loan and deposit growth while maintaining strong asset quality.

Customer, Credit and Risk Oversight

  • Position the Bank as a preferred financial partner for SMEs, mid-corporates, and large corporates.
  • Champion customer experience across onboarding, servicing, and turnaround times.
  • Apply advanced credit structuring and risk assessment capabilities across the MSME portfolio.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry players, regulators, development finance institutions, and sector associations.

Product and Segment Development

  • Drive tailored financing solutions for sectors such as manufacturing, education, health, trade, and agribusiness.
  • Develop supply chain and ecosystem banking opportunities.
  • Support structured and syndicated lending solutions.
  • Collaborate with Digital, Product, and Operations teams to digitize SME banking journeys.

People and Culture Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing SME Banking team.
  • Strengthen relationship management and sector specialization capabilities.
  • Promote a performance culture based on accountability, customer focus, and collaboration.
  • Mentor senior leaders and develop effective succession pipelines.

Governance and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide strategy, budgeting, and performance planning.
  • Support strong stakeholder relationships across the MSME banking ecosystem.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Banking, or a related field.
  • 10–12 years of banking experience, including 6–8 years in SME Banking leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of managing a large commercial or business banking portfolio.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering loan and deposit growth while maintaining strong asset quality.
  • Experience leading multi-segment or regional banking teams.
  • Deep knowledge of SME banking models and business banking operations.
  • Strong expertise in structured lending, trade finance, and cash management.
  • Advanced credit structuring and risk assessment capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of sector and value chain financing.
  • Financial and portfolio analytics capabilities.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations and prudential guidelines.
  • Experience leading large P&L portfolios.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
  • Professional banking or finance qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, AKIB, or equivalent.
  • Experience in a transforming or rapidly scaling bank.
  • Exposure to digital transformation in business banking.
  • Experience in digital banking and transformation initiatives within business banking.
