Manager, Corporate Communications Job Description

The Manager, Corporate Communications is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing an integrated communication policy and strategy that positions the Fund as a market leader in social security. Reporting directly to the Managing Trustee and Chief Executive Officer, the role provides strategic direction across media relations, digital platforms, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate communication policy and strategy.
  • Oversee communication planning across media relations, digital platforms, social media, public affairs, and events.
  • Lead day-to-day management of the Fund’s website, traditional media, and digital communication channels.
  • Plan, manage, and approve the design, content, and production of internal and external communication materials.
  • Provide expert advisory support to senior management on communication, public relations, and media engagement.
  • Ensure all public relations activities align with best practice and uphold the Fund’s values.
  • Track, measure, and report on communication performance to evaluate strategy effectiveness.
  • Manage crisis communication, risk awareness, and pre-emptive communication planning.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with media houses and journalists while managing public narratives.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with government entities, stakeholders, and strategic partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Master’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Membership to an accredited professional body such as PRSK or IABC.
  • Completion of a recognized leadership or management course.
  • Minimum cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years, including three (3) years at Assistant Manager level or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and digital communication tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing communication within large public or regulated institutions.
  • Strong understanding of stakeholder management in government or statutory environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis communication and reputation management.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in high-accountability environments.
