Milling Supervisor Jobs in Kenya

The Milling Supervisor will oversee the safe and efficient operation of grain cleaning and milling equipment while ensuring production targets, extraction rates, and quality standards are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will coordinate production activities, optimize milling processes, and maintain compliance with food safety and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute production plans and schedules to ensure continuous product availability.
  • Coordinate grain cleaning operations while maintaining optimal equipment efficiency.
  • Monitor grain conditioning, water addition, and holding times for wheat and maize.
  • Maintain targeted extraction rates and optimize grain conversion efficiency.
  • Monitor milling costs and implement corrective actions to minimize process losses.
  • Ensure compliance with product specifications, food safety standards, and GMP requirements.
  • Support flour transfer operations to meet packing schedules and production demands.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and support preventive maintenance programs.
  • Participate in autonomous maintenance, condition-based maintenance, and planned maintenance activities.
  • Maintain the integrity of MCC, PLC systems, process scales, and interlock controls.
  • Implement pest control, sanitation, and hygiene practices throughout the milling process.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives using PDCA methodologies.
  • Coach, mentor, and supervise production teams while promoting workplace safety.
  • Prepare production reports, reconciliation records, and stocktake documentation accurately.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Packing, and Maintenance teams to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and occupational safety standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Milling Technology.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the milling industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, supervisory, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and operational efficiency.
