About the Role
The Polling/Queuing/Counting Clerk will report to the Presiding Officer and provide operational support before, during and after voting. The position involves preparing the polling station and counting room, assisting voters, issuing ballot papers and supporting the sorting and counting of votes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with laying out the polling station and counting room.
- Demarcate the polling station and display the required posters.
- Control queues and guide voters to their respective polling stations.
- Confirm that voters have not already voted by inspecting their fingers for indelible marks.
- Identify voters before allowing them to vote.
- Issue stamped ballot papers to voters who have been duly identified in the register of voters.
- Assist the Presiding Officer with sorting votes after voting as part of the counting process.
- Perform any other official duties assigned by the Presiding Officer.
Requirements for Appointment
- Must be a Kenyan citizen of high integrity and be non-partisan.
- Must have attained a KCSE aggregate grade of C- and above.
- Must be of good character.
- Must be available for the entire period of the exercise.
- Must be a resident of the relevant County Assembly Ward.
Wages
Successful Polling Clerks/Counting Clerks will be paid Kshs. 1,000 per day.
