Portfolio Manager, Corporate & Mortgage Loans Job Description
The Portfolio Manager, Corporate & Mortgage Loans is responsible for maintaining the quality and performance of corporate and mortgage loan portfolios through effective credit administration, monitoring, and risk management practices.
This role supports portfolio management activities by ensuring compliance with lending policies, reviewing documentation, monitoring credit risks, and implementing corrective measures. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor credit risks for assigned facilities to prevent migration of performing loans into non-performing loan categories.
- Ensure construction financing projects comply with approved conditions precedent and achieve required project milestones.
- Review loan documentation and confirm compliance with KCB policies, regulatory requirements, and internal credit procedures before disbursement.
- Manage staff and former staff loan portfolios by ensuring timely conversion, repayment, and account regularization.
- Confirm adequate security coverage for banking facilities after successful completion of construction projects.
- Follow up on insurance renewals and ensure KCB interests are protected across mortgage facilities.
- Prepare and analyze Management Information reports to support portfolio control and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Monitor corporate portfolio covenants and support resolution of covenant breaches within agreed timelines.
- Review file maintenance reports to maintain accurate facility records and identify potential risks.
- Maintain collateral registers, deferrals records, and approve release of securities upon successful completion of facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related business field is an added advantage.
- Minimum five years of experience in credit administration and portfolio management.
- Strong knowledge of corporate lending, mortgage financing, and credit risk management principles.
- Experience using data analytics tools including Excel, SQL, data analysis, and IFRS 9 concepts.
- Proficiency in core banking systems including T24, CQ, and TAC platforms.
- Demonstrated ability in people leadership, coaching, delegation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing complex corporate and mortgage loan portfolios within a banking environment.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and financial services compliance standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and portfolio performance data.
