Amref Health Africa is hiring for the position of Policy and Advocacy Lead to join their Girl Generation: Support to the Africa-led Movement (ALM) to End FGM/C Programme. This is an exciting regional role contributing to a flagship FCDO-funded, consortium-delivered programme aimed at accelerating positive changes in social attitudes towards ending FGM/C in four focal countries in Africa.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • – Provide thought leadership and strategic direction to the consortium’s advocacy interventions
  • – Offer guidance, coordination, and technical support to country offices, partners, grantees, and community champions
  • – Strengthen organizational capacities, foster activism, and cultivate leadership in ending FGM/C
  • – Build capacity of stakeholders in advocacy, communications, movement building, and girl-centered programming
  • – Ensure technical quality of project delivery and alignment with best practices
  • – Champion girl-centered, gender-sensitive programming and a ‘Do No Harm’ policy
  • – Collaborate with teams to monitor, evaluate, and adapt advocacy and communications interventions
  • – Represent the programme and consortium at high-level national, regional, and international events

Requirements:

  • – Demonstrated expertise and impactful achievements in policy and advocacy work
  • – Experience inspiring others with the vision to end FGM/C
  • – Ability to drive consortium activities related to advocacy and communications
  • – Strong strategic planning, leadership, and capacity-building skills
  • – Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • – Commitment to girl-centered and gender-sensitive programming
  • – Knowledge of FGM/C issues and social norm change approaches

This critical role involves international and national-level travel across the four focal countries of Senegal, Somalia (Somaliland), Kenya, and Ethiopia. The Policy and Advocacy Lead will be based at Amref Health Africa’s office in Nairobi, Kenya, while also being part of the technical core team coordinated by Options Consultancy Services on behalf of the consortium.
