Warehouse Equipment Operator (Handling & Lifting) – Tatu Mineral Plant

CKL Africa Limited is seeking a Warehouse Equipment Operator (Handling & Lifting) to support warehouse operations at its Tatu Mineral Plant in Tatu City. Reporting to the Warehouse Team Leader, the role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating powered industrial material handling and lifting equipment to load, unload and move materials within designated areas.

About the Role

The Warehouse Equipment Operator will ensure goods delivered to the factory are safely unloaded and stored in the required areas, while dispatch orders are loaded accurately and in full. The position contributes directly to inbound and outbound logistics performance, including truck turnaround times and safe warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities

Materials Receipt and Goods Dispatch

• Unload goods from vehicles including trucks and trailers.
• Load goods onto trucks and trailers according to customer orders or loading lists provided by the Dispatch Officer.
• Operate material handling and lifting equipment safely to prevent damage to goods.
• Support efficient truck turnaround times during receiving and dispatch operations.

Stock Management

• Ensure the warehouse is neatly arranged and materials are stored appropriately.
• Observe FIFO and FEFO procedures when handling materials and finished goods.
• Participate in daily, weekly and monthly stock takes.
• Move materials to tipping or dumping points according to production requirements.
• Support accurate stock management and minimise losses resulting from poor storage or handling procedures.

Equipment Checks and Cost Management

• Perform daily equipment checks to support safe and efficient equipment operation.
• Recharge equipment batteries, carry out lubrication and perform basic engine checks as required.
• Report equipment conditions or other situations that are outside normal operating requirements.
• Manage activities within approved limits and comply with approved budgets.

Productivity and Personal Development

• Deliver agreed performance objectives and take immediate corrective action where performance is below expectations.
• Proactively manage personal learning and development.
• Adhere to the annual leave plan agreed with the line manager.
• Maintain current job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, industry events, meetings and professional networks.

Risk Mitigation, Compliance and Safety

• Ensure trucks are properly choked before the offloading process begins.
• Ensure raw materials and finished goods are safely and stably racked.
• Use the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), company policies, procedures and statutory guidelines.
• Support compliance with applicable audit, safety and risk requirements.

Reporting

• Prepare and submit reports to relevant stakeholders within the agreed formats and timelines.
• Provide daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports as required.
• Present accurate and relevant information that supports informed decision-making.
• Clearly communicate trends, insights, concerns and recommendations in reports.

Performance Expectations

• Zero goods damage resulting from poor equipment operation.
• Efficient truck turnaround time during receiving and dispatch.
• Zero customer complaints relating to short or incorrect deliveries.
• Accurate stock-take reports and adherence to FIFO and FEFO procedures.
• Zero safety incidents related to poor racking.
• 100% PPE compliance.
• 100% adherence to applicable policies, procedures and statutory guidelines.
• Timely, accurate and relevant operational reports.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Diploma in Plant Equipment Operations.
• A valid driving licence with a stamp for lifting devices.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating material handling equipment.
• Experience operating equipment such as forklifts and stackers.
