Senior Associate, Employee Relations, Performance Job Description

The successful candidate will support the execution of employee relations, performance management, and employee wellness initiatives while ensuring compliance with Kenyan labour laws and the Bank’s HR policies. The role requires close collaboration with HR Business Partners, line managers, and employees to promote a fair, compliant, and engaging work environment.

The position also supports organizational culture, employee engagement, recognition programmes, policy implementation, and performance reporting while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the interpretation, implementation, and communication of HR policies and employment regulations.
  • Manage disciplinary cases, employee grievances, workplace conduct issues, and appeals while ensuring procedural fairness.
  • Maintain accurate employee relations records and documentation for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Provide guidance to managers on employee relations matters and labour law compliance.
  • Participate in disciplinary hearings and ensure proper documentation throughout the process.
  • Maintain productive relationships with employee representatives and workplace committees.
  • Coordinate performance review schedules and monitor timely completion of performance evaluations.
  • Maintain performance records, generate reports, and support goal setting and feedback processes.
  • Coordinate employee wellness programmes and engagement activities in collaboration with service providers.
  • Support diversity, inclusion, employee recognition, and workplace engagement initiatives.
  • Prepare communication materials relating to HR policies, wellness programmes, and employee engagement.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, and employee experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
  • CHRP-K certification will be an added advantage.
  • 3–4 years of HR generalist experience with strong exposure to employee relations, performance management, and employee wellness.
  • Solid understanding of Kenyan Labour Laws and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience handling disciplinary cases, grievance management, and employee relations processes.
  • Experience supporting employee engagement, recognition, and wellness programmes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Knowledge of HR information systems and employee performance reporting.
  • Experience supporting organizational change management initiatives.
  • Professional HR certifications beyond the minimum requirements will be an added advantage.
