About the Role
The Benefits Manager will oversee staff benefits structures and multicountry payroll support while ensuring benefits programmes remain aligned with Group policies and applicable statutory requirements. The position also supports accurate financial reconciliations, benefits administration, automation and digitization of HR processes.
The role covers Group Life, Medical, GPA, Pension and Benevolent schemes, while working with subsidiaries and key stakeholders to promote consistency, accuracy, effective controls and reliable service delivery across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage HR benefits structures and support staff cost leadership initiatives while ensuring benefit terms align with Group policies.
- Oversee multicountry payroll support functions, ensuring adherence to service-level agreements, reduced error rates and timely annual review exercises.
- Maintain accurate benefits administration, including Group Life updates, GPA claims, medical membership and pension administration.
- Support monthly reconciliation of HR-related financial accounts, including Oracle disbursement, medical databases and pension trustee accounts.
- Support automation of benevolent benefit management and other benefits-related workflows in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations across all operating countries while working toward zero penalties and operational losses.
- Maintain complete, audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audit processes.
- Drive risk awareness and internal controls and maintain an updated benefits risk log.
- Provide staff education on benefits programmes through at least two sensitization sessions per quarter.
- Ensure timely benefits service delivery and work with the medical team to maintain complete staff coverage and resolve employee queries promptly.
- Enhance the capability of benefits teams across subsidiaries through training, coaching and technical guidance.
- Drive automation, standardization and digitization to reduce manual processes and improve accuracy.
- Maintain updated standard operating procedures, process documentation and benefits governance frameworks.
- Manage periodic internal control self-assessments and reviews of process effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- CPA (K) or ACCA.
- Minimum seven years of HR experience with direct exposure to Compensation & Benefits and multicountry payroll or benefits processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in HR systems, HR processes, pay legislation and benefits regulations across Kenya and the Group’s regional markets.
- Strong experience in financial reconciliations, statutory reporting and internal control frameworks.
- Proven ability to manage Group Life, Medical, GPA, Pension and other employee benefits schemes.
- Experience working in SLA-driven service environments and maintaining accurate reporting structures.
- Strong documentation, process discipline and proactive issue-resolution skills.
- Technical knowledge of Compensation & Benefits Administration, multicountry payroll, statutory compliance, benefits accounting and financial reconciliations.
- Experience with HRIS/ERP systems covering payroll, medical and pension processes.
- Knowledge of risk management, internal controls, data accuracy, reporting, analytics and service delivery governance.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Demonstrated capacity-building, coaching, change management and process transformation abilities.
- High standards of integrity, confidentiality and professional conduct, together with sound decision-making and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Human Resource Certificate or Diploma.
