Plumber Job Description: Plumbing Jobs in Nairobi

The Plumber will install, inspect, maintain, service and repair pipework, fittings, water appliances, heating systems, drainage and sewage infrastructure. The role also covers pressurised appliances, water pumps, fire-water networks and water treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, service and repair pipework, fittings and water appliances.
• Maintain boilers, pressure vessels, water pumps and pressurised fire-water systems.
• Maintain drainage and sewage systems while following appropriate hazardous-system procedures.
• Operate water treatment systems and maintain compliant chlorine levels across the water distribution network.
• Clean, disinfect and inspect showerheads and water tanks using approved procedures.
• Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings using suitable couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement and plastic solvent.
• Cut structural openings for pipework and use pressure testing to identify leaks and faults.
• Diagnose plumbing faults, order spares and maintain equipment logbooks for heating, water and drainage systems.
• Identify, isolate and make safe faulty or dangerous installations in accordance with approved procedures.
• Supervise junior tradesmen, monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.

Required Qualifications: Plumber Jobs in Kenya

• Hold a minimum Trade Test 1 in Plumbing with at least three years’ experience in plumbing installation, repair and maintenance.
• Hold a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
• Understand installation and maintenance methods for heating, water and drainage systems.
• Safely operate motorised and hand tools and equipment relevant to the work area.
• Understand occupational hazards and apply standard safety practices and procedures.
• Demonstrate heavy equipment operating knowledge and the ability to work with changing priorities.
• Interpret and develop work procedures in accordance with applicable standards and policies.
• Communicate effectively in English and Kiswahili, both orally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hold a valid Kenya driving licence, Class B, C1 or C.
