About the Role

The System Integration Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining integration solutions that enable interoperability between banking applications, digital platforms, third-party systems, and external services. The position supports the Bank’s operational efficiency and digital banking objectives through effective integration development, testing, support, security, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement integration solutions using Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), REST APIs, and microservices.
  • Build and configure API connections, message routing, data transformation, and orchestration workflows for assigned integration projects.
  • Develop and maintain integration specifications, API contracts, technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and runbooks.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and ensure integration solutions comply with Enterprise Architecture standards.
  • Implement integrations in accordance with the Bank’s CI/CD pipeline and version control standards.
  • Conduct unit testing of integration components before handover to the QA team for formal testing.
  • Monitor integration platform performance and availability and proactively resolve issues affecting banking operations.
  • Provide Level 2 support for integration incidents, diagnosing and resolving failures within agreed service levels.
  • Maintain and patch integration middleware, API gateways, and message brokers in line with vendor recommendations.
  • Develop and execute integration test plans covering end-to-end, regression, and performance testing.
  • Collaborate with QA and Testing teams during formal system and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Identify, document, and resolve integration defects and participate in post-deployment verification.
  • Implement appropriate authentication, authorization, encryption, and audit logging controls across integration solutions.
  • Ensure integrations comply with CBK technology regulations, ICT policies, and information security standards.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning and testing for critical integration systems.
  • Monitor emerging integration technologies and participate in Proof-of-Concept exercises for new tools and approaches.
  • Contribute to automation of integration deployment and monitoring activities and participate in team knowledge-sharing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in system integration, API development, or middleware development.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing integration solutions using ESB, SOA, or API platforms.
  • Experience in REST and SOAP API development and management.
  • Experience in integration testing and defect resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Integration or middleware certification such as MuleSoft Certified Developer, IBM Integration certification, or WSO2 certification is an added advantage.
  • Java or .NET development certification is an added advantage.
  • ITIL Foundation certification is an added advantage.
  • Working experience in a banking or financial services environment is an added advantage.
