About Bandari Maritime Academy
Bandari Maritime Academy was established through Legal Notice No. 233 of 28th November 2018, with the mandate to develop academic and vocational skills and provide competent maritime human resources for a sustainable Blue Economy.
About the Role
The Works Officer I will oversee works and equipment maintenance activities while supporting construction projects at the Academy. The position requires technical coordination, preparation of work schedules, supervision of assigned staff and contractors, materials requisition and reporting on construction-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret drawings for works.
- Carry out costing and quantity assessments of works and equipment.
- Supervise maintenance of works and equipment.
- Supervise staff and assign work according to operational requirements.
- Prepare work schedules.
- Requisition required materials from central stores.
- Supervise construction work on internal projects.
- Report on technical matters relating to construction projects.
- Ensure delivery of quality services and workmanship.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years’ work experience at the grade of Works Officer II or in a comparable position.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying or another relevant field.
- Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya or relevant professional body.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
Benefits and Compensation
The position offers a basic salary of Kshs. 56,000 – Kshs. 99,500 per month, a house allowance of Kshs. 15,000, commuter allowance of Kshs. 14,000 and annual leave allowance of Kshs. 6,000. The position is offered on Permanent and Pensionable terms.
