Reporting to the Senior Program Manager – THRIVE, the role provides technical leadership for integrating gender equality, disability and social inclusion across economic empowerment, environment and climate change programmes, with 80% of the role dedicated to the THRIVE Project and 20% supporting the Regreening for the Future and Kenya Water Towers projects.

About the Role
The GEDSI Coordinator will provide technical leadership, capacity building and technical assistance to staff, government, civil society and community stakeholders. The position will support GEDSI integration throughout programme design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, learning and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Programme Implementation
- Provide technical leadership to the THRIVE Project to integrate gender equality and social inclusion into economic empowerment and social and behaviour change interventions.
- Lead the development and implementation of GEDSI integration approaches across project outcomes and different operating contexts.
- Develop context-specific GEDSI training materials and conduct training for staff, partners, local authorities and other stakeholders.
- Strengthen project staff capacity to identify and address GEDSI issues within the THRIVE programme.
- Provide quality assurance for GEDSI project model implementation in line with World Vision Kenya’s NO Strategy and World Vision International GEDSI Theory of Change.
- Promote participation of vulnerable groups, particularly women, youth and persons with disabilities, in project structures and activities.
- Ensure disability inclusion is incorporated into project approaches, tools and information to meet the needs of persons with disabilities.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning and Innovation
- Conduct GEDSI assessments and reviews to strengthen the participation and inclusion of vulnerable groups across the three supported projects.
- Integrate gender equality considerations into results-based management, monitoring and reporting processes.
- Develop tools, frameworks and resources that support effective GEDSI integration.
- Track GEDSI indicators and disaggregate data by sex, age and disability to analyse programme results.
- Build the capacity of communities and partners on monitoring and support participatory data collection for THRIVE.
- Review project and donor reports and provide technical feedback to ensure quality, GEDSI policy compliance and progress towards gender equality, disability inclusion and social inclusion.
- Identify successful practices and develop communications materials highlighting GEDSI programming, achievements and lessons learned.
Engagement, Networking and Advocacy
- Represent the project in county, national and international stakeholder meetings in collaboration with relevant regional, county and national coordinators.
- Work with government ministries to provide technical direction and leverage resources for gender mainstreaming interventions.
- Support advocacy initiatives addressing gender concerns and strengthen links between the project and other World Vision Kenya programmes.
- Represent the programme in strategic gender and social inclusion technical working groups and forums.
- Lead learning forums to communicate promising practices and support their adoption.
- Contribute to publications and communications highlighting programme progress and achievements.
- Advocate for policy translation, position papers and influence on county plans.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Social Work, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Community Development, International Studies, Sociology or an equivalent social sciences qualification, with specialisation in Environment and Natural Resource Management.
- At least four years of experience in gender, disability and/or social inclusion programming, with evidence of successful programme implementation.
- Understanding of human rights, including women’s and children’s rights, CEDAW, social justice and gender equity issues.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate gender considerations into project design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.
- Strong understanding of gender, disability and social inclusion priorities, approaches, standards, guidelines and international best practices.
- Proven experience as a staff and community trainer and capacity builder in community or social development.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative, solve complex problems, exercise independent judgement and work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to work effectively across diverse cultural contexts and build the capacity of staff and partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and skills in results-oriented and performance-based management.
- Strong budgetary and financial management skills.
- Good interpersonal, organisational and negotiation skills.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications and socio-economic analysis tools such as SPSS.
- Experience engaging government ministries and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated analytical and advocacy skills on human development issues, particularly policy advocacy aligned with CEDAW and CRPD.
- Ability to work under pressure and within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
- Management experience and strong organisational skills.
- Experience in proposal development and stakeholder engagement at different levels.
